This last week, I celebrated my 50th birthday with a week away up in the highlands of Scotland with my hubby and one of my best and oldest friends.

They surprised me by booking everything so I knew we were going away but had no idea where or what we would see.

It was amazing!

We stayed at a house in a village called Muir of Ord. The house had everything you could want, a hot tub, comfy bed, a traditional aga in the kitchen and a log fire. It was even located next to a whisky distillery!

We got to visit all of these locations:

Fort Augustus (gateway to Loch Ness)

Lochinver

Ullapool

Plockton (my hubby's favourite place)

Skye (incredible scenery)

Achmelvich beach

Inverness

Blair Atholl

All of the places didnt disappoint. To be honest, Scotland is amazing, but once you get north of Inverness, the scenery is incredibly stunning. I can see why visitors fall in love with the place.

So, half a century of my life gone already. I have packed a lot in, but I have so much more to do. I dont feel any different turning 50. I still don't feel my age and hope that continues for a long time to come. I have a beautiful family and very, very close friends. I have a small circle of people around me, but I know I can count on all of them. I feel very grateful for the last 40 years.

What does the future hold? More travel, we are staying in our home for a bit longer and decided not to sell yet, so home and garden projects, and I am writing down all my recipes that I have created over the years to hopefully end up with a little cookbook I can share. Life for me is about quality time with my closest friends and family and focusing on finding peace and contentment.

So, happy birthday to me and here's to the future! 😁

Photos below, including my birthday cake, which my friend literally set on fire, by far, the funniest thing that happened on our birthday week tour 🤣 😆  I hid the black parts on the flowers very well 😁
